About 7 weeks ago, I took in an unemployed friend. He got a job but is still using my car to get there, and my apartment is too small for two people.  Plus his job is in IT, and we share 1 computer.  He won't get his first check for another week.  I'm slowly going crazy, hoping order is restored in my world by 7/1.

No need to send flowers or anything, but I will just mention that I've had a relapse.  There was an NCIS marathon today on USA, and I watched 4 or 5 episodes.  You know it's bad when you schedule taping on the DVR and then watch the live broadcast anyway...

End of the Galactic Day

If you have any interest in the worldwide difficulties of the last decade or anything bigger than our world, you should really take 10 minutes and look at this link:

http://www.adishakti.org/mayan_end_times_prophecy_12-21-2012.htm

It's a discussion of the Mayan calendar and cosmic cycles much bigger than most people ever consider, one of which culminates in late 2012.  The Mayans are known for advanced science and math and what some claim to be an error-free calendar.  It really is worth a look.  If anyone wants to discuss it, let me know.

Rare Rainbow

Yesterday, I saw my first west coast rainbow.  Only took 2+ years.  I went to see a matinee of Slumdog Millionaire since I had the day off from work for some obscure holiday.  (I think it's called President's Day or something.)  We've had another day of intermittent showers--much needed--and when I came out of the theatre, I saw sunshine but felt sprinkles.  I quickly headed for an intersection where I could see past the buildings towards the horizon, and there it was--one of the brightest rainbows I've seen since training back to Switzerland from Prague in August of 2000.  The state is still bankrupt, and the news is still bleak, but it was a nice little "extra" to cap off an enjoyable holiday weekend.  Maybe I should head out after work tonight to hunt for the pot of gold...

I went out to look at an apartment the other day, but I didn't like the neighorhood.  Tonight, I watched two episodes of NCIS then worked on organizing my financial records some more.  I've been doing that on and off the last few weeks, partly in preparation for filing taxes and partly to better see my progress in getting out of the debt I've been carrying since getting laid off from a job several years ago.  I'm good at organizing things, but I find financial stuff tedious and have to spread it out.  (Kind of like house cleaning.)  With several loans/lines of credit open and a second income considered "self-employment," I have quite a few ducks quacking to get in a row.  Or something.  Anyway, I'm making good progress and feel good for doing so--but not as good as when I'm watching NCIS.  lol
