Did I mention I finally bought contacts again right before moving to LA? It’s been good to shed the glasses, but what an ordeal. Fitted twice (second much better) and about $500 later, I’m pretty happy about the end result (bank account notwithstanding). Then this morning, I opened a new box and put both lenses in only to have mild discomfort in my left eye. I removed the lens, which was apparently torn and quickly fell in two in my hand. I have no idea if they’ll charge me to replace it. The way things have been going, I’d guess yes.
Still no digicam, but roommate has one he has yet to use. Maybe soon I’ll borrow it and get some new pics up. I bought a nice printer/scanner combo, but most of the pics I wanted to scan are still in boxes stored in Miami. Such is the fun state of affairs here at Wildcane Central.
Off for my midday walk before lunch hour is up…

i’ve had that happen before, with the torn lens thing, and i didn’t even try to have the eye doctor replace it. i think it’s only happened to be once or twice, in the… oh, maybe twenty boxes of contacts, i’ve had in my life? (i wear them waaaaaay longer than i’m supposed to, so i only buy contacts once or twice a year.)
ooh, new digital pictures!
Hey, it’s good to hear from you again. I hope you get a replacement soon.
“Hang in there” in Wildcane Central. You have email!
I remember the very first pair of contacts I got when I was a teenager, and one tore almost exactly the same way yours did. I was devistated, I thought I was going to be doomed to glasses for the rest of my life. I haven’t a clue what the cost to my parents was to get it replaced, but I was so thankful. Now I use disposable ones, 30 wears and they get thrown out. They are much cheaper to replace, and don’t require cleaning. But I haven’t been wearing them much lately.
I hope you can have your torn one replaced without cost, it seems like there was something wrong with it from the start!
re: the little things add up…yep, they surely do!
