  • AAH Post…(Challenge #2)

    SUMMER’S END

The boy in me remembers when
the nights turned hot and sticky,
    and all-night a.m. radio
    became a little tricky,
when clothing sales provoked my mom
in ways I thought were icky
And “Back to School” signs everywhere
Could fell my joy tree quickly.

But now that school years long have passed
    with family and friends
to other places I can’t see
    or even comprehend
The season change is subtler than
    a willow in the wind,
and somehow I find comfort in
    embracing summer’s end.

The cycles of the seasons are,
as all of us must learn,
    a rudimentary rhythm
to which every soul must turn.
Not what’s behind but what’s ahead
must be for which we yearn–
    released in peace accelerates
    what’s best in its return.

  • I haven’t even gotten there yet. I’ll try to put something up, but it won’t be anything of consequence. One of these days, WildOne, we’ll get back to the talking we used to do. I miss that.

  • i like this poem.  reminds me of those days when i get all excited for school and even the rainy days.  coz i get to wear my new raincoat and boots.

will try my best to post a poem for the AAH within the week.

  • Very nice! I haven’t written poems since I was 14…..I guess if someone had read them they would not have guessed a 14 year old had written them. I’m ready for fall temperatures and summer to be over….its too hot here.

  • i love your poem!…somehow it captured something that i was feeling and couldnt explain….beautifully written!….i am feeling all tingly in anticipation of the fall…October especially…my favorite month…when the Harvest moon is low and blushing deep orange…when the trees are a mirad of colors from a painters pallet…and the best….All Hallows Eve…a moment fixed in time when two worlds seem to blend…..oh and all the candy and cute kids too…hahaha

And as for my strange entry…i dont have men or anything but sometimes the really do irratate me….but u are correct i am in a constant state of shock and interst due to them lol

    Cheers!

  • Beautiful and true — poetry at its purest.

  • This contains very true sentiments which are worded beautifully!  It has such a nice rhythm.  I have a great admiration for poetry writers as I can write a jot of it myself!

  • Loverly, just loverly.
